Abstract

Based on Karl Mannheim's theoretical-methodological contributions, the article presents socioanalysis and the documentary-method as tools for analyzing reality. It starts from the perspective that public policies require contextual understanding, which is understood by their local agents. In addition to an approach to the place and agents of education, this proposal brings with it an understanding of the role that can be developed in the school environment against authoritarianism, which begins with the very conception of the analysis and formulation of public policies and the conception of education as element that requires problematizing social relations. To illustrate the methodology, at the end of the article, the research process and its application in a school in Rio Grande / RS are described. The results show that the daily difficulties that the interviewed teachers narrate lead to an emotional engagement with their careers and forms of action that seek to mobilize respect for their profession.
