This article investigates the relationship between feminist struggles and the State, considering the trajectory of feminist movements and popular women's organizations, since the 1980s, thus identifying their consequences for the constitution of public policies on the issue of violence against women in Brazil. In this perspective, this study signals four expressive institutional moments: the creation of the first women's police station, in 1985; the appearance of Special Criminal Courts in 1995; the Maria da Penha Law, in 2006. The research has a bibliographic character and focuses on the writings of authors such as Bonfim (2018) and Santos (2010), as well as other interlocutors who address the subject in question. The analysis points out the relevance of feminist struggles to the debate about violence against women, and demonstrates the interfaces of the institutionalization of collective demands.
