This article aims to understand and analyze the possibilities of using oral history for educational research, proposing a theoretical-methodological comparison with (self) biographical narratives. In this sense, the qualitative, bibliographical research included analyses and theoretical-methodological discussions of specialized literature that validated the joint production of knowledge between oral history and (auto)biographical narratives for work in the fields of history and education. However, an effort was also made to maintain and recognize the particularities of each strand, without losing the horizon of points of contact and distance between each perspective in the comparative effort.
