Abstract

To analyse and describe, from a review of the specialised literature, as well as through direct experience with the field of research to be highlighted, the philosophical ideas present in the official hymnals of Santo Daime, in particular, O Cruzeiro by Raimundo Irineu Serra and O Justiceiro by Sebastião Mota de Melo. To present the theoretical perspective of entheogens as plant teachers, that is, intelligences of nature that are capable of transmitting true and justified knowledge to those who know how to appreciate it. To wave to some of the innumerable connections established between the universe of the daimist religion and the fundamental horizons of philosophy. To identify the elements contained in the daimist hymns that attest that entheogenic experimentation is a methodology for learning the concepts of universal thought, present in the hymnals of Master Irineu and Godfather Sebastião. The justification for validating the present article is based on the indispensability of recognising the philosophical ideary as an interpretative key to the Santo Daime hymns, an approach of decisive importance that has been little explored in the panorama of studies concerning the doctrine of the Queen of the Forest, but which is promising in the sense of opening epistemological spaces within this sphere of knowledge, recently discovered by contemporary philosophers. By way of conclusion, the philosophical principles identified in the hymnals are intended to show, to what extent, their authors became the primordial references of an important sapiential tradition established through learning from the plant teachers.
