DOUBLE CROSSING IN EL SUEÑO BY DONATO NDONGO-BIDYOGO

Abstract

The reflection about Donato Ndongo-Bidyogo’s El Sueño (1973) highlights the human crossing that goes beyond narration in the light of the crossing of an African leaving in the quest for a better life fleeing economic and social hardships towards the european “paradise”, similarly to the very crossing of the language regarding discursive genders: in both cases, the individual and the language permeate the transgression of barriers and frontiers as they look for new shapes. Thus, in front of the disquietude and the impulse that always call back a quest to mind, due to the sensation of existential emptiness or incompleteness, and at the same time, the incompleteness or the openness of a work of art, El Sueño, in its double character, will awake to a poetry of the reading, to the waiting for a country which is not only telluric but endless, in order to become a shelter for the Being, as well as for the language, the very home of literary patrimony.
