Bibliographical productions from the 1990s highlight the importance of capoeira as a content of School Physical Education, Soares (1992) e Brasil (1998). However, it has predominantly and historically manifested itself in non-formal and informal educational environments. Therefore, we designed exploratory qualitative research consisting of 3 phases, aiming at a better understanding of capoeira teaching in different educational environments. During the first phase, related to professionals in training and with a descriptive objective, participant observation was carried out through the eyes of a scientific initiation scholarship holder. Therefore, there was an analysis of two scientific studies that analyzed more than 5352 articles related to the teaching of capoeira in Basic Education. In the third phase, we recorded an experience report on capoeira educational practices developed in the communities. Therefore, we observe that the dialogical connections between the academic community and sociocultural movements present in the communities are essential from the perspective of building and strengthening new epistemologies.
