Abstract

This article proposes a reflection on the Philosophy of Language within the historical-cultural process of the evolution of writing, words, and speech, articulating the theoretical contributions of authors such as Sylvain Auroux (2005), Mikhail Bakhtin (2011), Roxane Rojo (2005), Vilson Leffa Rojo (2005), and Marcelo Buzato (2016). Based on readings and discussions developed in the course “Language Practices and Teaching” in the Master's program in Humanities and Language Teaching at the Federal University of Acre, we sought to understand how language manifests itself in contemporary social practices, especially in digital social networks. The study was based on bibliographic analysis, notes, and classroom discussions. Topics such as linguistic signs, discursive genres, the impacts of technology on language, and forms of cultural expression on digital platforms were highlighted. As a future step, we propose an investigation into the use of social networks by young people of African descent as spaces for identity and cultural affirmation.
