This study presents a stylistic and ideological approach to Monteiro Lobato’s language in the novel O presidente negro, aiming at a broader understanding of his poetic about the author's intention to report certain thematic aspects present in Brazilian society. Analisa também, sob a perspectiva de um escritor pré-moderno, o interesse do autor em conhecer a cultura estadunidense de forma a servir como modelo sociopolítico para o desenvolvimento do país. This article also analyzes, from the perspective of a pre-modern writer, the interest of this author refers to United States culture to use it as a sociopolitical model for the development of his own country.
