REINSTATING AESTHETICS IN ETHICS: TOWARDS AN ECOCRITICAL PHILOSOPHY OF LITERATURE

Abstract: Writing the living becomes today a task as urgent as approximate because, at the heart of the current imbrication of politics in the ecological, the economic in the social, the human in the non-human and the Private in the public, telling the living can no longer be content to be a theme or a discipline. Our article attempts to demonstrate the importance of the connection between aesthetics and ethics, language and place, writing and ecology in the literary text. It is a question of reconsidering the relationship between culture and space through the introduction of an ecological humanism, especially an ecocritical philosophy. We introduce the notion of literary ecology through the presentation of an ecologically hybrid character of contemporary literature: Anna Maria Ortese's Iguana. Dream literature, studied from an ecocritical point of view, allows us to imagine unlikely encounters; that of the human with the non-human, the real with the indecipherable. To do this, she questions not the visible but the invisible creating a new path to literature 'engaged': the literature of the invisible. And if the role of aesthetics is to guide us to the sublime, literary ecology teaches us.
