FOCUS AND SCOPE
Muiraquitã - Revista de Letras e Humanidades is an electronic journal, biannual, edited under the responsibility (editorial and financial) of the Graduate Program in Letters: Language and Identity (PPGLI) of the Federal University of Acre - (UFAC), non-profit, with the objective of providing the exchange, circulation and dissemination of studies and research in the areas of Linguistics and Literature, Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.
The Journal became electronic in 2015, with the attribution of ISSN 2525-5924. Previously, the Journal had another record due to its printed support: 1807-1856.

Maintained by a public and free Federal Educational Institution located in one of the most strategic Amazon and Pan-Amazonian borders, Muiraquitã does not charge any kind of fee for the publication of contributions in the form of its guidelines and is available for reading and downloading completely free of charge. Among its main focuses is the dissemination and circulation of research results of professors and undergraduate and graduate students from universities in this macro region, as well as connecting with the experiences of basic education teachers and with the different forms of production and transmission of knowledge from human communities and social movements in Amazonian-Andean forests and cities.
In specific calls and continuous flow, contributions (articles, interviews, essays, translations and reviews) may be free or linked to thematic dossiers organized by researchers and other interested persons.

This journal offers immediate free access to its content, following the principle that making scientific knowledge freely available to the public provides greater global democratization of knowledge.
ARTICLE PROCESSING CHARGES
Muiraquitã: Revista de Letras e Humanidades does not charge any kind of fee for the publication of articles, reviews, interviews, etc.
LANGUAGES
Articles, interviews, essays or reviews – unpublished – written in Portuguese, English, Spanish, French, Italian, German or in one of the Amazonian indigenous languages will be accepted.
REPOSITORY POLICY
Authors are allowed to insert the versions of their articles (version submitted, accepted or published) in repositories of their own choice, for example, Hprints, Academia.edu, their own website, etc.
ETHICAL GUIDELINES FOR PUBLISHING AND WITHDRAWAL POLICY
Muiraquitã: Revista de Letras e Humanidades values the quality and reliability of its articles and therefore scans all submitted articles with plagiarism identifier software. Articles that show the misappropriation of third-party ideas will be rejected.
This Journal adopts the criteria established by the Code of Conduct and Best Practices Guidelines for Journal Editors, COPE, available at https://publicationethics.org. Likewise, the guidelines contained in the COPE Disclaimer Rules are followed for the registration and publication of errata, withdrawals and expressions of concern.
DOUBLE-BLIND EVALUATION AND ESTIMATED TIME
All articles submitted to Muiraquitã: Revista de Letras e Humanidades are submitted to double-blind peer review. The average time to review an article is 6 weeks.
EVALUATION PROCESS
The evaluation process is carried out in two steps.
Step 1: Desk review
At this stage, it is verified whether the contributions meet the journal's editorial line, compliance with the guidelines for authors and no indications of plagiarism are found. Authors are always notified of decisions, whether in case of rejection of the work or in case of follow-up to the next stage. The estimated time for this step is 15 days (between submission and decision to proceed or not for the double-blind evaluation).
Step 2: Double-blind review
At this stage, contributions are sent to two ad hoc evaluators who will carry out a double-blind assessment as to the scientific merit of the work. The estimated time of this step (between sending for evaluation and answering the first evaluation of the reviewers) is 30 to 45 days. Assessments can result in:
(1) Accept for publication.
(2) Mandatory corrections.
(3) Reject publication.
Controversy cases are settled by requesting a third ad hoc evaluator to issue an opinion on the work. Similarly to the first phase, authors are notified by e-mail of the respective results of this evaluation stage.
ABOUT THE REVIEWERS
The body of reviewers of Muiraquitã: Revista de Letras e Humanidades meet the profile and scope of the journal in terms of their areas of academic specialization. About 70% of the reviewers are members of institutions outside the Federal University of Acre.
REJECTION RATE IN THE PREVIOUS YEAR (2022)
In the year 2022, the rejection rate of articles was 30%.
COPYRIGHT POLICY
Authors who publish in Muiraquitã: Revista de Letras e Humanidades agree with the following terms:
Copyright is held by the authors, who grant the journal the right of first publication. Authors will not be remunerated for the publication of works.
The text must be unpublished, original and not have been submitted for evaluation in another national or foreign journal.
As the journal is publicly accessible, the articles are free to use, with non-commercial purposes as long as the source is cited.
DIGITAL OBJECT IDENTIFIER
Muiraquitã: Revista de Letras e Humanidades ended 2020 having registered all of its articles in its electronic journal with CrossRef, the official digital object identifier registration agency. Thus, each published article has a unique identification number called DOI - Digital Object Identifier.
With this number, authors can ensure a permanent identification of authorship of their publications, in addition to facilitating the completion of platforms for researchers such as CNPq-Lattes and ORCID, as the data are automatically captured by the platforms.
It is highly recommended that each author update or insert the DOI on these platforms as a way to expand the dissemination and circulation of their articles, as well as including references in the list when citing such articles in future publications.
