Guidelines for authors

The UÁQUIRI magazine is a publication of the Postgraduate Program in Geography (PPGGeo) at the Federal University of Acre (Ufac). It is a tool for disseminating research results on the production of geographic space and thematic studies involving the Amazon region and geographic theoretical-methodological discussions.

It is a biannual electronic magazine designed to disseminate scientific articles, reviews and experience reports:

1. The articles must be related to the Journal's theme and presented in the form of a literature review, essays or research results. Articles must contain 12 to 20 pages. You must use the available Article Template.
2. Book or film reviews. They must be characterized by critical approaches and leading readers to reflect on relevant topics in the area of knowledge. Reviews must contain 3 to 8 pages. (Review template)
3. The experience reports are the results of fieldwork reports and lived experiences. Experience reports must contain 5 to 12 pages. (Template for report).
4. Authors' declaration of agreement model (Declaration model)

The structure of the article must include the abstract in Portuguese and two other languages, English and/or Spanish or French; the keywords; the introduction; items that cover the theoretical foundation, materials and methods or methodology, results; discussion; the closing considerations; references.

To identify articles:

• Title of the article in Portuguese: capital letters and bold, New Roman team, size 14, centered, single spacing.
• Title of the article in a foreign language (English and Spanish or French): capital letters, italics, Time New Roman 11, centered, single spacing.
• Enter the full name(s) of the author(s): Time New Roman 11, centered, single spaced.
• The titles of the authors (Abbreviated) must appear in superscript, before the names.
• Indicate, just below the name(s) of the author(s), position, institutional affiliation, City, State, Country.
• The use of ORCID is recommended and the corresponding author's email is mandatory.

For basic article formatting:

• Online file in A4 format;
• Word for Windows text editor;
• Top and left margins of 3 cm, bottom and right margins of 2 cm;
• Main body font in Times New Roman 12;
• Line spacing of 1.5;
• First line indentation 1.25;
• Justified alignment;
• Subtitles must be written in bold, Times New Roman 12, with the first letter of the word capitalized and the rest lowercase.

The Abstract is a concise description of the entire article highlighting the relevant points of the research, which is limited to a maximum of 250 words. Write only one continuous paragraph, Times New Roman font, size 11, single spacing, justified alignment, without indentation. The text must present the central idea of the manuscript in the first sentence, highlighting, subsequently, the research objectives, the method or methodology, the main results (partial or total) and most relevant conclusions about the research.

Keywords must be three to five words, Times New Roman 11, single spaced, justified, separated by a semicolon and also ending with a period.

Both the title, abstract and keywords must appear in the article in Portuguese and in two foreign languages, with English being mandatory and a third language being Spanish or French.

Complete bibliographic references must be presented in alphabetical order at the end of the text, in accordance with ABNT standards (NBR-6023-2018).

By sending text to the publication, the author will be authorizing their work to be reproduced by the magazine in both immediate and subsequent publication, and copyright will always be respected.

The text will be assessed by the Publication Committee, which may accept, reject or resubmit the original to the author(s) with suggestions for editorial changes. The articles will be forwarded to referees, whose names will remain confidential.

Figures (graphs, drawings, maps, photos, flowcharts, etc.) must be limited to the minimum necessary, identified and numbered in Arabic numerals at the top. If it is a secondary source, the author must present the source and be responsible for authorizing its use (written authorization is recommended).

Tables and figures (graphs, flowcharts, images and maps) must be numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals, at the top, with captions.

COPYRIGHT STATEMENT

Copyright for articles published in this magazine belongs to the author, with first publication rights for the magazine. The articles are free to use, with their own attribution, in educational and non-commercial applications. The content of the articles is the sole responsibility of their authors, and the magazine is exempt from any responsibility related to them.
