Abstract

There’s a consensus among philologists of the polysemy of the term Philology, as well as different definitions for Paleography and Codicology. Based on the definitions presented and the criteria adopted, we present, in this work, a sample of the facsimile and semidiplomatic editions of 114 folios, written on the recto and verso, contained in two criminal cases from the beginning of the 20th century, recorded in Feira de Santana- BA. After editing them, we studied the content of the documents, relating it to articles 266, 267, 268 and 269 of the 1890 Penal Code, which characterize and penalize the crimes of defloration and rape. Then, we mention the paleographic and codicological elements in the corpus, based theoretically and methodologically on authors such as Andrade (2010), Berwanger and Leal (2008), Bueno (1967), Cambraia (2005), Dubois et al. (1993), Lázaro Carreter (1990), Melo (1971) and Spina (1977), who discuss Textual Criticism/Philology, Paleography and Codicology, sciences that were the bases of this work.
