In this work, the General Systems Theory will be approached as a research method in works that analyze the sets of environmental systems as a whole. In this, the aim is to present the systemic method as an alternative to study environments, the parts are interdependent, but they are interconnected and need balance so that the whole continues with the functionality of a system, whether closed or open, exchanging energy, matter and information . The work was developed from a literature review that seeks to discuss the systemic approach as a methodology to develop research in the field of Physical Geography with environmental systems or geosystems. With this, it was possible to reach the conclusion that the General Systems Theory is one of the methods that can be used in systematization and synthesis in studies and research in Geography.
