Physical exercise in primary healthcare: a systematic review

Abstract

Physical exercise properly supervised by the Physical Education Professional is of paramount importance in Basic Health Care. Studies indicate that through physical exercise it is possible to measure how fundamental this practice is for maintaining health and preventing diseases, providing more physical and mental health for users of the Unified Health System. This article aims to synthesize the evidence available in the literature regarding programs to promote physical exercise and health in the Unified Health System in Brazil. Systematic review article, following the recommendations of the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) method, established in four stages: 1) Identification; 2) Screening; 3) Assessment; 4) Inclusion. The studies analyzed demonstrate that physical exercise promotes improvements in flexibility, agility, dynamic balance, coordination, muscular strength and aerobic endurance.
