Abstract

The sanction of Law 11,645/2008, the approach of Afro-Brazilian and Indigenous History and Culture became obligatory at primary and high school. In addition to the debate on effective compliance in schools and educational competencies of what the law provides, many works present in the literature introduce proposals on how to line up ethnic-racial issues with the most diverse contents of different areas. In this sense, in the context of Chemistry Teaching, this work aims to present a proposal for teaching polymers addressing an exploration of the manual labor of black women and men in the cane fields from the colonial period to the present day, sold as practicality and economy in the process. In this way, not only is shown the contradiction inherent in the capitalist system, in which those who produce the most, not enjoy the value of what is produced, but also blacks women and men as producers of the country's material wealth.
