DESEMPEMPENHO ZOOTÉCNICO DE FRANGOS DE CORTE DE LINHAGEM CAIPIRA SUPLEMENTADOS COM PROBIÓTICO

The experiment aimed to evaluate the effect of supplementation with probiotic in the diet of broilers of free-range lineage, on zootechnical performance and carcass yield. It used 280 day-old broiler chicks, the plots were composed of 10 birds separated by sex (males and females), two treatments (with and without probiotic), and 7 repetitions, making 28 experimental units. The design used was completely randomized, and the F test of analysis of variance was performed at the level of 5% significance. The probiotic DBA was added to the diet on the first day of chicks' life, in the proportion indicated by the manufacturer of 0.004g. The treatments of males and females with and without probiotics in the diet, did not obtain significant difference (P> 0.05) for the analyzed variables of zootechnical performance and carcass yield. However, the management practices adopted and the lack of challenge may have compromised the action of probiotic bacteria.
