Abstract

Orchidaceae is represented by 219 genera and 2,458 species in Brazil, and their representatives are commonly epiphytic plants, however, they have other habits. In Rondônia State this family is represented by 67 genera and 169 species. In order to expand knowledge about the family in the local flora, the objective of this work is to present five new records of Orchidaceae for the Southern Cone of Rondônia. The collections were carried out in the municipalities of Colorado do Oeste, Cabixi and Vilhena. All the samples were deposited in the COOE Herbarium of the Federal Institute of Rondônia, Campus Colorado do Oeste. The five species recorded for the first time to Rondônia State are:Catasetum confusum, Galeandra beyrichii, Heterotaxis equitans, Nidema ottonis, and Trichocentrum fuscum. The descriptions, illustrations, geographical distribution data, taxonomic and ecological comments of the species.
