DRAG E QUADRINHOS: APROXIMAÇÕES TEÓRICAS E PRÁTICAS A PARTIR DA TRANSGRESSÃO E DA INTERSECCIONALIDADE

Abstract

This study aims to discuss the relationship between drag and comics. The proposal is to promote a dialogue between some of the characteristics and themes around both forms of art, such as transgression in political, narrative, and gender terms, as well as the theme of the intersectionality of social markers (race, class, gender, etc.) around the drag art and the language of comics. We begin the text with a bibliographic review on the history of drag art, highlighting the presence of elements of transgression and intersectionality, followed by a theoretical approach between drag and comics based on these two elements. In the empirical and practical part, we present brief exploratory analyzes about drag figures in comics, to demonstrate how the absence of transgression and intersectionality results in binary and stereotyped figures. In response to these absences, we then use the language of drawing as a methodological possibility to incorporate the elements of transgression and intersectionality in comics. We conclude with a reflection about how the comics can represent the visual and discursive aspects of the drag figure as a body that presents multiple layers.
