Abstract

The article deals with the system of prison recidivism in the state capital of Acre, characterizing the individual's socioeconomic variables. The methodology used was the logit model. It was observed that marital status at the first entry, signed card, vocational course, and parental marital status contribute to the reduction of the propensity to recidivism. It is concluded that public security policies, in order to have significant and long-lasting impacts, must start from the diagnosis of the determinants of criminal activity. Without understanding the genesis of crime, the effectiveness of combating violence will be undermined, as criminal activity is a "product" that is realized by reducing the welfare of society.
