Abstract

The research aims to investigate the water theme articulated with the students' prior knowledge, taking as the context what happened in the disaster of the rupture of the dam in the city of Brumadinho, MG, considered the biggest disaster in the history of Brazil. The research was carried out with students from the 9th year of Elementary School, from the Juscelino Kubitschek School. The didactic intervention was divided into 3 pedagogical moments by Delizoicov, Angotti and Pernambuco (2011), namely: problematization, knowledge organization and the application of knowledge. Data analysis was performed by Textual Discursive Analysis (TDA). Through TDA, it was demonstrated that the applied methodology favored students' learning regarding theoretical knowledge associated with prior knowledge related to water, indicating that teaching strategies facilitate learning.
