Abstract

The Caminhão da Ciência, an institutional project carried out in the interior of Bahia, aims to contribute to the promotion of scientific dissemination in public spaces and schools. In the field of chemistry, undergraduate and bachelor's degree students (monitors) make presentations of demonstrative experiments. The present work aimed to analyze these experiments, considering the role of experimentation for scientific literacy. For this purpose, interviews were conducted with the monitors, which were recorded and recorded in a field diary. The analysis was developed from the following categories: description of experimental activities, implications for daily life, use of hazardous reagents and generation of residues or rejects. The results indicate that the experiments carried out aim to prove the theory previously explained, the implications are treated in an incipient way, there is use of dangerous reagents and the residues are treated in the institution. In this sense, notes are made to contribute to the development of this type of project.
