Abstract

This article aims to present the analysis of the data obtained in the application of the thematic workshop "Air pollution and sugarcane harvesting, is there a relationship?", which was applied at the State College Professor Nestor Carvalho Lima, located in the city of Itabaiana/Sergipe. The purpose of the workshop is to problematize the effects caused in atmospheric air from the chemical reactions that occur in the burning of fuels, having as a starting point the combustion of sugarcane straw. The investigation of the students' understanding of the concepts addressed in the problem was carried out through the use of questionnaires applied during the workshop. Therefore, it was observed that the students understood the proposed content despite presenting some difficulties, and that the use of the thematic approach facilitated these understandings. However, one of the major obstacles among students is the erroneous writing that was visible in their answers.
