Abstract

This scientific article presents the initial results of an investigation that intends to understand the processes of evaluation of technical laboratory skills developed by students of Middle Level Technical Professional Education (MLTPE) in Chemistry, in accordance with a dichotomous statistical model developed by Georg Rasch, starting from it is assumed that this type of skill constitutes a latent trait in the training process of the professionalization of subjects, and its evaluation is a complex and challenging educational process for the teaching work. The research involved observation and analysis of visual records of practical classes in which students prepared aqueous solutions from a Standard Operational Procedure (SOP), and the completion of a detailed checklist of the technique. Data were collected on three occasions in three subclasses, analyzed and described qualitatively. In general, the students showed invariable performance, and did not strictly follow the SOP instructions, especially on the 3rd occasion.
