Abstract

Nowadays, science has a fundamental role in society, present both in the contour of social and environmental problems, as well as in the development of society. Given this, the students' conception has a fundamental role in critical reflection and understanding in science education, however, several studies point out stereotyped conceptions of science in a recurrent way. In this work, we aimed to analyze the conceptions about science in high school students. For this, we applied a questionnaire to students from the 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade of high school. We analyzed from the categories proposed for distorted views of scientific work. Our results are similar to other studies which the scientist is described as intelligent, crazy and antisocial and the big predominance in the decontextualized image of science. We noticed a big influence of the media on these conceptions and the strong role of the school and the teacher as contributors to the formation of reflective critical citizens.
