We seek to identify the characteristics of remembering that express the process of construction of meanings of scientific concepts in organic chemistry. Therefore, we adopt the memory model as the one that helps in the construction of meanings, as the individual is able to resignify prior knowledge to help him solvem a demand in the present. According to such model, resignifications of past experiences enable the elaboration of new syntheses that can be stabilized into new meanings. Therefore, we designed 3 steps for data collection: questionnaire, internalization and externalization. Data collection was done with students from the third year of the state education network in Pernambuco. The intervention was audio recorded and later transcribed. Data analysis succeeded from the characteristics of the remembering proposed by bartlett and discussed by silva and lyra. As a result, we identified the emergency of new meanings and also the externalization of meanings already stabilized previously by students.
