Abstract

The study aimed to analyze milk production in Acre, with the purpose of diagnosing the dairy sector and getting to know the situation vis-à-vis the regional and national panorama. In order to understand the functioning of this activity, a secondary research with bibliographic review was carried out. To determine the results, a direct comparison was made between the averages of the number of milked cows, milk production and productivity of the state indicators with the regional and national ones. The results show that despite the growth in production, the state ranks 24th in the national ranking of production; the number of milked cows is 1.9% of the state's bovine herd and milk production per cow / year is 765 L, an average 24.85% less than in the northern region and 63.02% than the national; the average daily production per cow is 3.3 L, a value that demonstrates the lack of technical activity in the state. Thus, it can be concluded that milk production and productivity in the state are very low, being very distant from the average indexes in the North and Brazil.
