Abstract

Abstract

Length-weight relationships (LWRs) were estimated for nine fish species of the family Doradidae in four micro-basins of the Vale do Juruá region. The captured specimens were measured, weighed, and identified. Opsodoras boulengeri and Tenellus ternetzi showed the highest allometric coefficients (b), while Nemadoras cristinae and Agamyxis pectinifrons had the lowest coefficients. The Kn factor was greater than one for all species. Moreover, herein we show the first report of LWR data for nine fish species for the Vale do Juruá region, western Amazon. Primary information on LWRs and Kn are crucial to understand the population dynamics of fish and to formulate judicious management and conservation measures for the appropriate use of resources.
