CONSUMO DE BETERRABA E SUPLEMENTOS DE NITRATO NA PERFORMANCE EM CORREDORES DE RESISTÊNCIA

Resumo

Introdução: O óxido nítrico (NO) é uma molécula sinalizadora envolvida em vários processos fisiológicos sendo obtida endogenamente a partir da L-argnina ou exógena, pela alimentação na forma de nitrato nos vegetais verde-escuros, beterraba rabanete e outros. Objetivo: Analisar o consumo de alimentos e suplementos alimentares relacionados ao nitrato para melhora da performance física em corredores de resistência. Metodologia: Trata-se de um estudo de base empírica de literatura de artigos experimentais, que analisaram o efeito de beterraba e nitratos sobre a performance de corredores adultos de resistência. Resultados: 4 artigos foram incluídos demonstrando o efeito da suplementação de beterraba e de nitrato no consumo de O2, tempo de corrida e percepção de esforço. Conclusão: O consumo de alimentos ricos em nitrato pode melhorar a capacidade aeróbico de corredores de resistência, principalmente em indivíduos de nível baixo e moderado.
