Epidemiological profile of cervical neoplasms in the state of Acre, between 2016 and 2020

Cervical cancer (CC) is a public health problem worldwide. In the State of Acre, 70 new cases of CC were estimated for the year 2023 in the female population of the state. Objective: to describe the incidence of this neoplasm in the female population of the State of Acre, from 2016 to 2020. Methodology: descriptive, quantitative, retrospective, population-based epidemiological study, based on secondary data, considering information contained in the Information System of Cancer. A total of 185.542 women aged 9 to 79 years or older, who underwent cytopathological examination for CC between 2016 and 2020, were included. Results: Of the tested population, 3.695 tests approved alterations, with 676 cases of high-grade dysplasia of the cervix and 67 cases of CCU between January 2016 and December 2020, with 17,91% in women between 30 and 34 years old. The average incidence rate of CC in Acre women was 3,09/100.000 women between the years 2016 to 2020. Conclusion: the number of cases of this neoplasm increased in the State until the year 2020, making it necessary to improve public policies for prevention and early diagnosis, making them accessible to the entire population of the State.
