Abstract

Diseases of the circulatory system are considered the main cause of death in the world, leading to the death of about 15.2 million people according to the World Health Organization (WHO), with cerebrovascular diseases and acute myocardial infarction as the main pathology. The objective of the study was based on elucidating the epidemiology of this group of diseases in the state of Acre, as well as analyzing the mortality trend generated by them and comparing it to Brazil. The study methodology was based on an analysis of secondary data contained in the Department of Informatics of the Unified Health System (DATASUS) between the years 2009 to 2019. Cerebrovascular diseases, acute myocardial infarction and heart failure represent about 68 % of deaths from diseases of the circulatory system in the state, males represent 57.4% of deaths, in addition, people over 80 years old account for about 70% of the deaths presented, the brown color represented 66% of those affected, as well as, those with less education were also more affected. Acute myocardial infarction surpassed cerebrovascular diseases in 2019, making Acre a pioneer in this epidemiological transition that has been taking place in the country. Therefore, the study became necessary due to the lack of information on these pathologies in the state.
