ABSTRACT
Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious and contagious disease, whose main etiologic agent in Public Health is Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The population deprived of liberty (PPL) is considered a special population in which the risks of contracting TB are higher than the general population, due to the unhealthy environment of penitentiaries. The study aims to describe the clinical and epidemiological characteristics of TB in the PPL of Acre, between 2015 and 2020. The study design is descriptive, with the methodology of data collection on the DATASUS and INFOPEN platforms. The results showed 725 notifications of Tuberculosis in the PPL of Acre, with a prevalence of 17.38 cases/1 thousand prisoners; being higher in male prisoners (18.00/1 thousand), indigenous (36.76/1 thousand) and in the 18-34 age group (46.36/1 thousand). Most were new (80.7%) and TB in its pulmonary form (95.7%). The TB of the PPL of Acre presents some peculiarities in relation to the general population, through this study it was possible to describe its characteristics in the prison scenario.
