Abstract

Visualizing molecules tree-dimensionally can be a barrier for learning chemistry, due to the abstraction required. This study aims to evaluate a chemistry teaching proposal, based on mobile learning. Therefore, classes about molecular geometry were taught to 45 1st grade students of a public high school. The data were collected through questionnaires and then analyzed by content analysis. According to the results, most of students considered the experience of using their smartphones in chemistry classes positive, and that its use improved their learning. Students also considered that the app enhanced their comprehension on the subject and the approach were good or great. The results showed students’ interest and motivation for using smartphones during pedagogical activities. Therefore, this research shows good perspectives for further studies on this subject.
