To inhibit the browning of shrimp in fishing towns such as the city of Pirambu/SE, a chemical called sodium bisulfite is used. Fishermen, without the use of adequate equipment, carry out its use empirically and the residue of this substance can reach the consumer. In this context, the methodology was based on a contextualization of the problematic for the teaching of inorganic functions in which the students are made up of relatives and future local fishermen. Another objective was to disseminate information necessary for handling this product correctly, avoiding contamination of the shrimp. It is concluded through the Discursive Textual Analysis that the discipline of chemistry fulfilled its social role and gave meaning to the content inorganic functions.
