Abstract

It is important that students assume the role of protagonists in the learning process in order to build their own knowledge through problem solving. Among the new active learning methodologies, one type of game has been highlighted, the role-playing game (RPG). Known as role-playing game, in RPG players play characters immersed in a certain universe. Radioactivity was chosen as the topic addressed by the RPG, both because it is in the core curriculum of Espírito Santo state’s, and because of the students' curiosity about the topic. The process of building the game led students to question their positions, research the veracity of information, build their scientific arguments, in addition to working with socio-emotional factors in the class.
