The approach to environmental education in integrated high and technical school at the Palmas Campus of the Federal Institute of Paraná: from official documents to the chemistry subject

Abstract

Understanding how Environmental Education is present in high school courses is relevant considering the importance of this theme in critical citizens’ education in relation to environmental issues and solutions that permeate the relationship between human beings and nature. In this sense, this study proposed to analyze, through content analysis, how elements of Environmental Education present in the integrated high and technical school courses pedagogical projects at Palmas campus of the Federal Institute of Paraná are like those found in the Basic Education guidelines documents. Through the analysis, it was possible to notice differences in the frequency and approach used, showing the need for further studies on how Environmental Education is effectively included in the classroom and how teachers understand its inclusion in the curricula.
