The STS movement encompasses objectives of raising reflections on the implications of advances in science and technology in society and has expanded in the field of education. In this way, discussing only the conceptual contents of the disciplines of natural sciences in a traditional way distances themselves from the real objectives of education. This work intends to analyze the development of a didactic proposal applied in a 1st grade class in a private educational institution in the Federal District involving the fuel theme. The methodological design that guided this proposal was the Educational Purposes and the STS Parameters. Some implications and potential of the didactic proposal are discussed. The results pointed to an increase in the argumentative capacity and a greater social participation, although it identified limits regarding the different social impacts of modern fuels and some mathematical operations involving comparisons between the calorific value of different fuels.
