Teaching proposal based on the ‘Drugs’ theme approach with a group of high school students

This work presents results obtained from a teaching project developed in a public school located in the city of Florianópolis - SC. The study was carried out in two main stages: 1) Identification of the generating theme, through the thematic investigation process, and the consequent elaboration of the project entitled “The incidence of drug use in schools”; 2) Application of the project in a class of 22 students from the third year of high school. The results obtained indicated, among other aspects, that the use of generative themes favored the teaching-learning process of chemistry, as well as providing the occurrence of moments of debates and discussions in the classroom, on relevant socio-political issues, contributing to the formation of more critical and participative citizens.
