Abstract

The peruvian-maxixe is part of the functional foods, due to its medicinal properties, it has an anti-inflammatory action, it helps to reduce the level of cholesterol, besides being rich in fibers that stimulates the better functioning of the intestinal transit. The general objective of this work was to evaluate the quality of the peruvian-maxixe using different substrates. The experiment was conducted in the vegetable garden of the Universidade Federal do Acre from September to October 2017. The experimental design was randomized blocks, with five treatments and four replications. To evaluate the quality of the seedling, ten plants were used per replicate. The treatments were constituted by the combination of five substrates: T1 = 100% organic compound, T2 = 50% organic compound + 50% substrate commercial Subras®, T3 = 100% substrate commercial Subras®, T4 = 100% bovine manure, T5 = 50% substrate commercial Subras® + 50% bovine manure. There were substrate effects for the variables: plant height, shoot diameter, shoot dry mass, root and total, and quality index. The treatment consisting of 50% organic compound + 50% Subras® commercial substrate (T2) provides superior quality seedlings.
