Abstract

Fanta D’anta (Dimorphandra) is a plant genus that belongs to the Fabaceae family with great pharmacological potential. Thus, the objective was to present a Fava D’anta, to expose its phytochemical composition, some of its pharmacological properties and as interfering variables in its composition and development. A literature review was carried out on the databases: Google Acadêmico and SciELO, using the descriptors: Fava D'anta, Phytochemicals "Phytochemicals", Biological activities "Biological activities" and Interfering variables "Interfering variables", combined by the Boolean operator "E". Studies in English and Portuguese, including at least one of the aforementioned descriptors, were published between 2009 and March 2021. From the data analysis, it appears that Fava D'anta has great pharmacological potential due to the presence of several phytochemicals, especially flavonoids, more specifically a rutin, containing anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, cardioprotective and antioxidant activity. Soil, shading, state of maturity, seasonality and extractor solvent can affect the profile of secondary metabolites present there. Therefore, additional studies are important for a better understanding of the different forms of action of this plant for the production of a possible drug from it.
