Abstract

The objective of this work was to evaluate the agronomic performance of cabbage cultivars in an organic production system, in the municipality of Rio Branco, Acre. The experiment was installed in randomized blocks with seven cultivars (treatments) and four replications of 12 plants each. The cultivars were the Fuyuto, Blue Canyon and Suki hibrids and Coração de boi,, 60 days, Chato de quintal and Louco de Verão cultivars. The cultivation was carried out in an area under organic cultivation since 2008, the beds (1.20 m x 0.30 m) were prepared with the help of a tractor. The seedlings were produced in trays (200 cells) and seeded into plastic cups (180 cm³), filled with organic substrate. The transplanting occurred at 30 days after sowing in triple rows spaced 0.50 m apart and the plants spaced 0.50 m apart in the row. The following were evaluated: fresh commercial head mass (g), head diameter (mm), time to start harvesting (days), head formation (%) and commercial productivity (kg.ha-1). The cultivars “60 days” and Coração de boi were the earliest cultivars with harvest beginning at 53 and 56 days, respectively after planting. The cultivars Fuyoto, Coração de boi, Canyon and “60 dias” showed higher yields (2,523.3 kg.ha-1 to 3,666.0 kg.ha-1) as a result of the higher percentage of head formation (72.3% to 80.2%).
