Climatic characteristics of the municipality of Rio Branco, Acre, period 1990-2019

Abstract

This study aimed to characterize the climatology of the municipality of Rio Branco, Acre, based on data from the conventional meteorological station of the National Institute of Meteorology-INMET, interval 1990-2019. An analysis was carried out to identify possible trends in precipitation and temperature data, through linear regression and the test recommended by the World Meteorological Organization, (Mann-Kendall). The evaluated location has an average annual rainfall of 2,022 mm, with 2011 being the driest year (1,619 mm) and 2019 the rainiest in the series (2,794 mm). The month of July was the driest (29 mm) and the month of February the rainiest (292 mm). The lowest average temperatures throughout the year occurred in July, at 23.8 oC, and with the highest averages, recorded in October, at 26.4 oC. The data series did not show a significant tendency to increase or decrease precipitation or temperature.
