Abstract

Considering that Permanent Preservation Areas (PPAs) are essential for the protection of fauna and flora in each region, and that Brazilian legislation contains instruments to ensure such conservation, such as the Rural Environmental Registry (CAR) created by Law No. 12,651 / 2012, the present study aimed to evaluate the delimitation of the APP to the margins of a watercourse in an area located in Rio Branco-AC, using the vector files of the Brazilian Institute of Statistical Geography (IBGE), from 2017, and Acre's Ecological Economic Zoning (ZEE), in 2016, in addition to the field survey, aiming at comparing it with the base provided by SiCAR. As main results were obtained maps of riparian forest bounded according to these bases and their overlaps, allowing their comparative analysis with the field survey. Thus, we can conclude that none of the bases, not even SiCAR, comes close to the results obtained with the field truth, however, the ZEE base proved to be more satisfactory. For unmapped areas or regions that do not yet have Economic Ecological Zoning, the use of the Army Geographic Database topographic map can be indicated. Thus, while CAR is an essential tool for the control, monitoring, as well as the environmental and economic planning of rural properties, it showed a loss of Permanent Preservation Area of 2,13 ha when compared to field truth.
