Abstract

As an important biotic component in cities, urban afforestation provides several benefits, constituting a determining factor of environmental health. However, there are few studies that provide quantitative information about its vegetation. In this context, the work aims adjust equations to estimate height, volume, biomass and carbon of the stem of tree species used in urban afforestation of Parque da Maternidade in Rio Branco - AC. Data were collected through systematic inventory and processed with software "Statistica v.10.0". The adjustment was made based on models of Soares et al. (2011), Schumacher and Hall (1933), Spurr (1952) and Avery and Burkhart (1994). Were adopted as selection criterias the coefficient of determination (R²), adjusted coefficient of determination (R²aj %), standard error of the estimate (Sy.x%) and graphical analysis of the residues (E%). Analysis of the criterias indicated equation (3) LnH = 0,821017 + (-0,038348 . LnDAP) as superior to the others for the height of stem. For volume, equation (1) Vol = 0,001462 . DAP1,248727 . H0,901140 presented statistical values higher than others. The equations from Spurr's model (1952) obtained superior performance in estimation of biomass and carbon of the stem of species present in Parque da Maternidade, being, therefore, the most indicated.
